WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED?<\/h2> <\/div>\n
\n

When transporting goods across the borders of the European Union, there are VAT regulations as well as EU law regarding customs duties, import and export prohibitions, and embargoes.\n\nIf the customs value of an imported shipment exceeds a certain threshold, an import VAT (EUSt) is levied. This must be paid by the importer. If the importer is a business, they can deduct the import VAT as input tax. Conversely, shipments can be exempt from tax if they are exported to a third country. This is because the country where the goods are consumed always has the right to levy VAT.\n\nThe competent customs authority examines the intended flow of all goods based on the accompanying freight documents. It also determines whether and to what extent customs duties are payable upon import. <\/p>\n
